The Sea
The Four Observations of the Sea
I am the sign that God made men free:
This was the first observation of the Sea.
To Womankind also I make my plea:
This was the next observation of the Sea.
If I could turn to ink or blood, I would prefer tea:
This was the third observation of the Sea.
Even the sea wearies of the sea:
This was the last sigh of the Sea.
(All things realized, I am humble as a bee;
this was the soft afterthought of the Sea.)
